Christmas chocolatada

Ingredients

150g dark chocolate, plus extra to serve
700ml water
2 cinnamon sticks
½ tsp cloves
170g evaporated milk or whole milk
light brown sugar, to taste
¼ tsp finely grated nutmeg
whipped cream, to serve

Method

Finely chop the chocolate. Put the water in a saucepan with the cinnamon and cloves and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Discard the spices and return the pan with the water to the heat. Add the chopped chocolate and stir constantly until melted. Pour in the milk, followed by 2 tablespoons brown sugar and the nutmeg. Stir well and heat for 3-4 minutes more. Taste and add more sugar if needed. Divide the chocolatada between mugs and top with a spoonful of whipped cream and little chopped chocolate.
